Pacific Iron Ore's mandate is to conduct an exploration work program at the Pearson Project on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, with the aim to prove up iron ore reserves of commercial grade and volume, followed by the permitting and approvals process and construction of a commercial magnetite mine. Please also see our Mission Statement. Exploration was underway in summer/fall 2008. The Pearson Project is detailed on the accompanying pages.
The Pearson Project lies near Port Renfrew in the southwest corner of Vancouver Island and is the Corporation's most advanced mining prospect. It is prospective for several metals, primarily magnetite, a form of iron ore. Additional claims cover a broader area of southwest Vancouver Island. The Corporation also has six mining properties in Ontario. These are prospective for several metals and commodities but are of secondary importance.
The Pearson Project is a start-up iron ore mining opportunity with the potential for discovering significant mineral deposits of a commercially producible grade and size. The project is strategically located with a number of viable shipping alternatives available for transporting ore to various markets. It is situated in a democratic political jurisdiction with a stable legal, political and employment environment and a long history of commercial mining.
The Corporation's directors and executive officers have broad business experience, including significant experience in the mining sector encompassing the commercial development and financing of new mining projects. Pacific Iron Ore also has access to competent third-party professionals to carry out required technical work.
In addition to its commitment to work closely with the local community and governmental bodies to minimize any environment implications of developing an iron ore mining site, the Corporation has actively pursued positive relations with the Pacheedaht First Nation.
